Start Your CCXP Journey

Everything you need to know to begin your path to becoming a Certified Customer Experience Professional

What Should I Do First?

The CCXP certification is designed for experienced customer experience professionals who want to validate their expertise and advance their careers.

Start by assessing where you are in your CX journey:

  • New to CX (0-2 years): Focus on building foundational experience across multiple CX competencies. The CCXP requires breadth of experience, not just depth in one area.
  • Mid-level CX Professional (3-5 years): You likely meet the experience requirements. Review the competencies to identify any gaps and start your application process.
  • Senior CX Leader (6+ years): You're ready! The CCXP will validate your expertise and connect you with a global community of CX leaders.

The journey to CCXP certification typically takes 3-6 months from application to exam. Most successful candidates spend 40-60 hours preparing for the exam prior to submitting their application.

Common Questions About Getting Started

Your CX experience must span multiple competencies, not just one area. For example, if you only have experience in customer insights and understanding, you'll need to demonstrate involvement in strategy, metrics, design, or culture initiatives. Review the competency framework and map your experience to each area. Most qualifying candidates have touched all of the five competencies.
Most applicants will have at the ready any documentation that shares their experience within the five compentency areas. This could be a resume, project plans, etc. Applicants will also need to have their method of payment (credit card or bank transfer) ready for the checkout process.
Standard review time is 15 U.S. business days. During peak periods (typically January-March and July-November), reviews may take up to 30 U.S. business days. You'll receive an email confirmation when your application is received and another when the review is complete. Incomplete applications may take longer if additional information is requested.
You should meet all eligibility requirements at the time of application. If you're close (within 6 months), focus on expanding your experience across different CX competencies. Use this time to study the Body of Knowledge and prepare. Some candidates use the preparation period to fill experience gaps through project involvement or role expansion.
If denied, you'll receive specific feedback about what's missing. Common reasons include insufficient breadth of experience or unclear documentation. You can reapply once you've addressed the issues—there's no waiting period. Many successful CCXPs were denied on first application and used the feedback to strengthen their experience before reapplying.
Membership is not required but highly recommended. Members receive substantial discounts on application and exam fees (often saving more than the membership cost), access to exclusive study resources, and connection to the global CX community. The ROI is positive for most candidates.
